Thank Banana's its Friday

Frankly Red hot soup - part 2

Red hot tomato soup
Dairy free

1/2 bottle Franks Hot sauce or 2-3 drops
1 Jar  Tomato Passata + same of hot water
1 Tin Chopped tomato's
1 Cup chopped carrots
1 Cup Sliced mixed peppers (Salad kind)
1/2 packet Indian spiced rice
1 Banana - mashed - Secret ingredient

Food waste mission:

I'd bought a packet of Simon Rimmers vegetable Balti, I don't normally buy processed food but thought Id give it shot.  Now I remember why I don't buy them, adding hot water to a freeze dried veggies, spice and rice is not really a filling meal.  I was left with half and really wasn't keen on heating it up again for another meal.  Only other option was change it into something else.

Soup seemed the best solution, so I added tomato passata to the rice along with some hot water.  There was enough spice in the rice, so didn't bother with veggie stock. Kind of ruined my rescue the rice plan though. I accidently screwed off the top of the Franks hot sauce bottle, instead of flipping the lid.  So I ended up adding half a bottle instead of a few dashes.

TIP: - Use the empty tomato jar or can to measure out your hot water.  Will pick up every last bit of tomato goodness.

Thank Banana it's Friday

Iv been searching for savoury recipe's to test for Friday banana madness.  I remembered seem one on the Chiquita Banana web site where they added mashed banana's to Chili.  If it's wacky or strange I can't resist trying it out, which is how banana ended up in my Red hot tomato soup.

You can't really taste the banana in the soup.  It just give a hint of sweetness that helps tame down the chili kick.  And with half a bottle of red hot sauce it's a big kick xxx
