Mash Direct - Review

Product Review

I first discovered Mash Direct products in the Dobbies garden centre Deli shop.  I really enjoyed them, however am not a gardener so have no reason to go to Dobbies often.

So I was happily surprised when I found them again in the local Morrison's Stores Free from chilled section.  Mash Direct products are all vegetarian and Gluten free.  They don't claimed to be dairy free, due to the production environment. Lucky for me some of their product recipes don't contain dairy.

I love the fact they are a British family farm, that are big fans of not wasting vegetables.  I'm a big wobbly veg supporter myself.  Turning non perfect vegetables into a product saves so much food waste.  It also helps keep the farm viable.  We really need to be supporting are British and Irish farmers.

"With six generations of farming expertise we are specialists in our field. We select older heritage varieties specifically for taste rather than appearance, our products are bursting with flavour and the use of gentle steam cooking and mashing processes retains the taste, texture and nutritional benefits natural to every vegetable we use.

These are the 2 products that I've tested so far.  I cooked them a little longer than the packet instructions because I like a really crispy exterior .  They taste great and I really enjoyed them.  There best as a accompaniment to a main meal.  I love them with a fried egg, it must have a soft yolk that can be soaked up by the potato.

I wouldn't recommend freezing them though, mine turned out a big soft.  This might have been occurred as I defrosted them before they went in the oven.  Perhaps they are best cooked from frozen.   They bake perfectly from chilled as they are intended.

All products Gluten Free

No Dairy, however not made in a free from environment.  So not suitable for people with milk allergy.

Dairy free, contains egg so not Vegan.  Also not suitable for people with milk allergy.

I can highly recommend you try Mash Direct products. Especially as there products are gluten free. Their commitment to reducing food waste and embracing wobbly vegetables is an important policy I commend.  Even better is the fact they are a British family far.

As I always say it's always best to check the ingredient list, there products are only guaranteed Gluten Free.  Many are dairy and egg free so are perfect for those of you who are Vegan or have a food intolerance.
