Yeast Free bread Recipes

Image
I remember sitting on the balcony of our time share apartment in Paris, watching the city wake up.  An old woman going by, still in her slippers carrying fresh baguettes. Some things are universal, my grandma would go to the same baker shop every morning for Buttries (Aberdeen rolls). In Fife where I live now, you'll see people buying there fresh bread rolls with their morning paper. No matter which country you are in around the world, they will have their own form or version of bread and their own daily morning ritual.  I'm both yeast and lactose intolerant. Since my IBS has become worse and new trigger foods discovered and removed from the list of foods I can not longer eat.   It's the simple things I miss....... I miss bread, I miss the fresh baguettes we would buy in Paris.  The buttries we would toast and slather with butter and home made raspberry jam.  I miss tearing open a fresh baked morning roll and eating it simply w...

Waste not, Want not - Wraps & Tortillas

WASTE NOT, WANT NOT      I'm yeast intolerant and lactose intolerant, so most bread's are no longer on my shopping list.  Pitta a flat bread also seems to be  commercially made with yeast, while Soda Bread has milk added to the recipe.    The one thing I can eat is Wraps or Tortillas depending on what you want to call them.   Since it's the only bread product I can eat, I do eventually get fed up of eating salad wraps and taco's. Homemade baked Tortilla chips -  Great with dips or spread with hummus for a light lunch.  ( all you need is scissors)   2. Cinnamon sugar tortilla chips - Use as a wafer for ice cream.    3. Pizza base - Spread with pesto or tomato paste and topped with veggies.  Bake for 10 - 12 Min's.  Makes a lovely crispy p...

Thank Banana it's Friday...

Found a great website this week  Australian Bananas . It  has some inspired, sweet and savoury recipes using my favourite yellow skinned fruit. This weeks Banana recipe is for.... Banana and peanut butter Quesadillas It's not the best photo Iv ever taken, to be honest I just really wanted to tuck in and eat it.  Sorry!!! It's one of those snacks that taste a lot better than they look. My inspiration this week came from Rachael Allan.  I caught one of her older shows on the TV, which just reminded me how awesome Quesadillas are. Think of them as a Mexican version of a toasted or grilled cheese sandwich.  I used to fill mine with pesto, spring onions and grated cheese.  Then toast them in a dry frying pan, causing the cheese to melt into the other ingredients.  Making a dairy free version is a no no, since Iv yet to find a vegan cheese with out yeast extract added.  Yeast gives me major windy pop's which my di...
