Morrisons free from range - Review
I follow a Low Fodmap diet to manage my IBS. It's not a diet for losing weight, it helps you avoid foods that can make your IBS symptoms worse.
I started it last July and have found it really helpful. I already knew I was lactose intolerant, so following the diet wasn't that big a change. Although giving up Gluten did pose a few problems for me, since I love to bake.
Gluten free baking is not easy and can be expensive so buying Free from products is more cost effective. My local Morrisons has recently expanded its Free from range. So I've had more products to chose from. I've been like a kid in a candy store xxx

Bakewell tarts
Short crust pastry, jam, almond frangipane, icing and lets not forget the cherry on top. I really enjoyed these, they are a bit sweet but ohh so tasty. I have to limit how many I buy or I would have them everyday.
It's hard to find Gluten, wheat and dairy free products so was pleased to find them. I can't remember the last time I was able to eat a bakewell tart.

Chop Chip brownie
These are super chocolaty and not too sweet. They are small and you may be tempted to eat more than one at a time. However I have to watch how much sugar I eat, since it can trigger my IBS. I think having to limit your treats makes you appreciate them more.

Shortbread
Sometimes all I want is a plain biscuit. What's more British than tea and a biscuit. Also I'm Scottish so love the fact I can eat shortbread again. Normally you can only find Gluten free, however Morrison's is dairy free as well. It has a lovely buttery taste, even though none was involved in the baking. It also has a great crumbling texture which is important in shortbread.

Shortbread
The one product I've tried that I just didn't like. It didn't have much taste and the texture was all wrong. It reminded me of dog biscuits. Don't judge me, some times you have to bite into a dog biscuit to show your pets it's okay to eat...
Perhaps I just got a bad batch, but I'm really not tempted to try this one again.

Jam and coconut slice
Coconut is a favourite of us Scots, we love it in and on our cakes. so i was looking forward to trying these. It's a pastry base spread with jam, and then topped with toasted coconut. Again this one was very sweet, just a bit too sweet for me. I teamed it up my favourite free from Custard to make it more of a desert. It helped cut the sweetness for me.

Coffee cake
It's been years since Iv been able to eat Coffee cake, this one has a nice layer of vanilla frosting on top sprinkled with cocoa powder. The coffee taste comes through strongly and does tend to be on the bitter side, Id prefer more sugar in it to combat this. However I did my usual trick of teaming it up with dairy free custard, to cut the bitterness.
Morrison's Free from
Fruit cake
At christmas Morrisons do a iced version as well. It's a really rich fruit cake which can be a bit overwhelming. As a Scot we love ours spread with butter. I use my dairy free spread instead. There's something lovely and old fashioned about cake spread with butter
Morrison's free from
Wholegrain Rice cakes
Gluten free bread is too expensive for me too buy all the time. I usually wait till it's reduced and freeze it. I also have to watch how much I eat since I'm also yeast intolerant. Lets just say yeast makes me produce a lot of gas.
So I eat Rice cakes with marmalade for breakfast, along with my cornflakes. It's crispy like toast and really healthy. Morrison's own brand is a lot cheaper than the branded products, so it's also good value.

Choccy Buttons
Morrison's do a chocolate bar as well, but there something about eating chocolate buttons that brings out the kid in me. I love to buy them for my cinema trips. There pretty reasonably priced, so great for real kids as well.

Pasta
A cupboard staple, for a fast a quick meal. You really can't tell the difference in taste from regular pasta. I will say though it doesn't reheat very well, if you wanted to keep a portion for the next day. It tends to go mushy.

There are a lot more products in the Morrisons Gluten free range, however they are not all dairy free so I can't test them. On the whole they have a good mix of products. I'm hoping they start to include more savoury options that are
both Gluten and dairy free.
