Asda Free From - Product review

Asda Supermarket Dunfermline Free From Products I went shopping today at Asda and was pleasantly surprised to find they have increased their Free from  range of products across the store. They now have a variety of Free From products to rival Sainsbury's.  Supermarkets are still not as good as speciality food stores like Real Foods Edinburgh.  However the range they have, means I need to visit my favourite speciality stores less.  More importantly I can now shop locally.    Picked out a few of my favourite Free From foods and drinks. Kallo Vegetable Stock Cubes  I am yeast intolerant and find that most vegetarian stock cubes have nutritional yeast added for flavouring.  They also use it to flavour most vegan products, including cheese.   I either find the product is lactose free but has yeast added, or that it's yeast free but contains milk!!!!!   So it's good to find a reasonable priced Vegetable s...

10 Ways to Cook Tomato's - Dairy free

Image
Well Kind of......... Okay this is kind of a list of the great variety of ways that you can enjoy the humble tomato, no matter what season it is.   One of my favourite reasons for going abroad on holiday is the food.  I love vegetables that don't Conform to the EU regulations on size and shape.  Organic Veg is just vegetables grown the old fashion way before rules, regulations and pesticide sprays removed all the taste.  Don't believe me, just taste a tomato and you'll know what I mean.   1. Au Naturale The simplest way to enjoy the tomato is Au naturale, as nature intended.  During the summer I dice cherry tomato's in half. Then toss them through pasta with a little oil, salt and pepper for a lovely light supper dish. You don't need to cook them to turn them into a great meal or side dish.   -  Guardian newspaper Internet site       Article on how to make the perfect Salsa.  -  Gazpacho...

Tortes, cupcakes and savoury tarts

Tomato and Pesto Tart Was back at the Pantry today, was glad to get back to my normal routine.  Todays dessert was Peach Torte, basically a fancy name for a cake.  Except it uses a lot more sugar, which is probably why it was so popular. At least they got one of there 5 a day....  Got home and had to bake a batch of ice cream cone cupcakes. My nieces birthday is tomorrow.  It's also the day my brother is un-wiring my cooker, as my new one arrives sometime Friday.  I really don't think things through when I plan!!!!  (Doesn't matter when they deliver my new cooker, I still need my brother to wire up the new one.) So after Tortes, Cupcakes came my dinner of Tomato Tart.  Was in Sainsbury's yesterday for a few Free From Supplies. I found there now stocking  Meridian Pesto Wheat Gluten & dairy free, which is reasonably priced at £1.75.  Iv only seen it before at Real foods in Edinbur...
