Flaked Pudding Rice - Product Review

Image
FLAKED PUDDING RICE Tesco's own brand £0.80 I discovered flaked rice a few years ago, up and till then I'd never heard of it.  It can also be called Flattened Rice.  It was a new product, so I had to try it out for myself.  The great thing about Flaked Rice is that it cooks a lot quicker than ordinary rice.  You can make it on the stove top in 8 Min's, or you can cook for longer in the oven. Wiki - Flattened Rice Speed is a great selling point, another is that it is accidentally Gluten and Dairy Free. It is also really easy to cook.  Making it one of my go to comfort foods.  After writing my Rice dessert recipes blog post, I have been craving coconut rice pudding.  So bought a tin of coconut milk, and made some today.   All you really need to make rice pudding is - rice, dairy free milk, sugar.  I used my coconut rice milk to cook it, then folded in some of my Alpro Coconut Yogurt as well once it had cooled down. 10 Ways to eat Coconut - Dairy free

Image
Discovered my local supermarket were stocking Coconuts in there fruit and veg section.  I couldn't resist and had to buy one.  It wasn't till I got home that I thought about what to do with it, and how do I open it!!!!! Questions I should have really thought about before I bought it.  Lucky for me you can find tons of helpful information on the Internet.   If you plan to buy your own Coconut's, make sure you are prepared with a hammer and nail.  Bent nails that your brother has prised from your kitchen wall are not going to work.   Probably also not really hygienic either.   Take the nail and hammer it into one of the 3 eyes on the base of your coconut.  Once open you can then pour out the coconut water, before using the hammer to break open. 1. Coconut water Coconut water  is the Clear liquid found inside young coconut.  You don't need to crack open coconuts yourself, since it's now available to buy in cartons.   ...

Kitchen re-furb and caramel sauce recipe testing

Image
Been a bit busy the last few days, so haven't been able to blog.   I discovered on Sunday that my Brothers planned to start my kitchen re-furb on Tuesday night.  Was slightly surprised and kind of panicked. The plan is to take down the old pantry wall and make the kitchen larger.  I've put off decorating this room since I moved in over 13 years ago.  I just couldn't handle the thought of the noise and disruption involved, however I'm finally biting the bullet.   Iv CBT (Cognitive behaviour Technique) the problem.  I'm okay getting work done in the house as long as am not there when it actually happens.  Iv had to accept that there are some anxiety triggers that will always be there.  The only solution is to work round them.   Lucky for me my brothers stepped in to help.  So while they did the first stage last night, I went to my local library book club.    Then got a call from them saying they were done.   Got a...

Can you take a pie through airport security!!!!!

Image
Mushroom curry pie (dairy/egg free) Okay new holiday dilemma, I want to take my own food to eat on my flight. I don't want the stress of getting to the airport and not being able to find anything. I can't just eat my orange and cranberry scones on the flight, it would be boring.....  I know you definitely can't take meat and dairy products due to recent foot and mouth outbreak, not much of a problem for me as I can't eat either of these. You’re okay to take solid food items through airport security, so does a homemade mushroom pie count as a solid food item? Who knows!!!!! Don't think I'll take the chance, there too good to have confiscated.  I think I'll go for my second option and just take a bag of Morrisons Sweet and salty popcorn.  Who knew that traveling with my IBS intolerances would be more stressful, than my anxiety disorder. I like traveling by plane; I find any vehicle that people are strapped in too has a positive effect on their b...
