What do you eat? - In Aberdeen

Or more correctly Where do you eat?     Spent the weekend in Aberdeen recently. Before we had even booked it my mum asked Where can you eat?  Planning for a trip for me now includes Restaurants, Deli's and Cafe's.      Re-cap: - Currently I'm lactose intolerant, wheat intolerant and following a Low Fodmap diet to maintain my IBS symptoms.  I'm also a Pescatarian , not just for ethical reasons.  I discovered my IBS symptoms got worse when I ate meat or poultry.        Basically this makes eating out really difficult. Lucky for me I love Jacket potatoes, since I seem to be eating a lot of them lately.    If you are from Aberdeen or lived in the area then you will know what a Fly Cup is. A fly cup is basically the same as going out for a Coffee.  Traditionally there is a morning and afternoon fly cup, and refers to a cup of tea on the fly during your day.     T...

Mexican Food and chocolate birthday cake

Chiquito Lunch Burrito Bowls - Veggie Chilli Had a great meal out on Monday at  Chiquito Restaurant   in Dunfermline with one of my good friends.  Her birthday had been the week before, so I had baked her a belated birthday cake.   Chocolate Birthday cake recipe To make dairy free , use dairy free butter for the cake. For the ganache use dairy free chocolate and depending on your personal taste try using soya cream or coconut milk.   To make Vegan, use a chocolate wacky cake recipe for the base.   I turned to my one of my baking idols Mary Berry for the Recipe, the decorations were all my own though.   I baked a full dairy 2 layer chocolate cake, sandwiched with seedless raspberry jam.  I  frosted it with chocolate ganache, sprinkled the top with Crispy M&M's and put jammy dodger biscuits round the outside. Why jammy dodgers?  Well why not?   I wanted to make a really over the top ca...

IBS Travel Journals - Eating out

EATING OUT  in Lanzarote Travel diary - Eating dairy free, yeast free, meat free, low sugar and fat I don't eat out often due to a mix of my anxiety disorder and IBS food intolerance's.  Crowded noisy places are difficult for me to handle, then there's the extra obstacle of working out what food on the menu I can eat.     For the first problem I find sitting at a chair with my back to the rest of the restaurant helps.  With the second problem I tend to go on line and check the restaurants  menu's out before picking where to go out and eat.  Either way it limits where I can go, which is why we went Self Catering.  So how do 2 women with IBS and totally different food triggers find some place to eat........ Lol, every time we went for a walk round Costa Teguise we would end up reading restaurant menu's.  We eventually found a few places to eat out in the evening.  ...
