Loaf cake recipe

I can live without a microwave but not my computer!!!! Iv finally got my Computer back from the repair shop and I am now back on line, wayyhaa.  As normal If it's  weird or unusual then it's going to happen to me.  The guy at the repair shop has kept my old graphic board, apparently he has never seen one burn out that way before.  After collecting it on Saturday, I had to take it back to the repair shop because it still wouldn't work.........  There was a wire loose, which is pretty much the story of my life....... Base loaf cake recipe: I am a big fan of having great base recipes that can be adapted depending on the seasons or your tastes.  It makes baking so much simpler.  The Traditional recipe for tea loaf is totally dairy free, as the only liquid used is Tea.  I have made this recipe tons of times both with or without eggs, and for me it bakes just as well.  So is easy to also make vegan. I love loaf cakes, espec...

Vegan oven baked rice - base recipe

Image
Baked vegetable rice I'm totally useless at cooking savoury rice dishes, regardless of the type of rice.  I no longer have a microwave so quick nuke em rice is no longer an option. The only rice dish I can do  well is a traditional baked rice pudding.  Sharabelle personal philosophy Mistakes or failure are just ways of discovering how things don't work. And Iv found lots of ways of how not to cook rice...... I spent yesterday night looking for some inspiration on the net and found this Oven baked rice recipe   It's a good basic recipe that can be changed up depending on your mood and personal taste.  I couldn't wait to test the recipe, so I made it for today's lunch (Trying to be healthy and eat my main meal during the day, instead of at night)  I'll definitely be using this base recipe again, tasted great.  To suit my mood.....  I used my yeast free vegetable bouillon granules to flavour t...

Sundried tomato and basil soda bread

Image
Sun dried tomato & basil soda bread The festive season is finally over and life is slowly getting back to normal thankfully.  I've also finally worked my way through the stock of baked goods that were in my freezer.   I admit it, I went a bit OTT with the baking and cooking before Christmas!!!!!  I'd defrosted homemade soup for lunch, all I needed was some soda bread to go with it.  What I bake or cook depends on my moods, and today the mood was for sun dried tomato & basil. Soda bread is one  of the easiest breads you can make since it's yeast free.  The bicarbonate of soda acts as the raising agent instead.  I'm a big believer in great base recipes, so here's mine for soda bread.  The recipe makes one small loaf, double the ingredients if you want to make a large one. Base Soda Bread 8 oz Plain Flour 1 tsp Caster Sugar 1 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda 1/2 tsp Salt 200 ml milk or 1/2 milk ...

Mum, Banana Muffins and tea bags

Image
Iv had a great weekend so far, my mum came for an over night visit on Saturday.  Was great catching up with her and thankfully I was able to empty the bottom drawer of my freezer of her baked goodies.  As a fellow baker, my mum is chief taste tester.  If my mum enjoys my dairy free recipes, then I know I'm onto a winner.  I think it's important for non dairy eaters to be able to share the same food as full dairy eaters. It's more sociable and a lot less stress. My mum lives nearer the north of Scotland so I haven't seen her for a couple of months.  (We keep in touch by texting and blethering on the phone often)    You can bake a lot in 2 months, which is why when I waved her goodbye this morning she left with the following. - Lemon Loaf cake - Banana, coconut & chocolate chip whoopee cushions - Spiced parsnip cake - Blueberry Muffins  - Taste test approved - Chocolate Orange cake - Chai Tea loaf  - Tas...
