What can I eat? - Accidently Dairy Free Food

Image
Accidently Dairy Free foods   Accidentally Dairy free - Are food's that were not intentionally created to be marketed as Dairy free. I'm Lactose intolerant so I don't need to worry too much about cross contamination, while those with a milk allergy do.  So accidently Dairy free foods are safe for me too eat. When you find out your lactose intolerant you automatically assume that you can no longer eat non free from food.  That's not always the case..... Difference between milk allegy and lactose Intolerance This link from BBC Good Food is one of the best articles Iv come across explaining the difference.  Snacks I just recently discovered that Fox's party rings are Dairy free.  I loved these as a kid and it's great that I can eat them again.  They've added mini party rings to their product range, mini dairy free perfection.   Check out Discount stores, like... - Poundland - Poundstretchers - 99p Stores ltd - B&M Sto

Shrove Tuesday - Pancake Day

Image
Pancakes Shrove Tuesday Pancakes and Crepes are really versatile and can either be Savoury or Sweet.  Every country has their own version.  In Scotland we have  Scotch Pancakes or drop scones, which have to be topped with homemade Raspberry jam.   So it only makes sense that a Whole day should be devoted to them once a year.  Crepes can be used in place of pasta to make lasagne. Use instead of tortillas to make empanadas or a substitute for Chinese pancakes. Living Vegan or Vegetarian does not mean your food has to be boring..... It just means you have to be a bit more creative with your food. So I did a little research and found a few new ways to turn the simple pancake into a great meal xx Savoury Spicy Vegetable Fajitas - BBC Good Food Pakora Pancakes - Holy Cow Vegan Recipes Vegan Red Lentil Pancakes - International Vegetarian Union Courgette Corn Pancake recipe - Damn Delicious Vegan Crepe Recipe - Vegan Baking Savoury Pancakes - Vegan Rec

What do you eat? - Living dairy free

What Do I Eat Breakfast In winter I eat porridge and pimp it up.  My toppings change every week depending on what I'm in the mood to eat.   - Cinnamon Apple compote - Stewed Rhubarb - Spoonful of Jam - Sliced Banana - Dried fruit - Sliced pear - Honey/syrup Or you could add a teaspoon of cocoa powder to your porridge oats before cooking them, to make your own chocolate Porridge.  Forget buying those little sachets, it doesn't take long to make your own from scratch. Your also going to save yourself some money. I cook my porridge on the hob, so use a 3:1 ratio.  3 parts water too 1 part Oats. Weighing out the porridge oats is the last thing I want to do first thing in the morning.   Using American style measuring cups is a lot easier. If you don't have any try using a teacup or mug instead. 1/2 Cup of Porridge oats too 1 1/2 cups milk or water.  I'm from the North of Scotland so always make mine with water and a pinch of salt.  I love the sweet

As soon as people find out I'm lactose intolerant, the first question they always ask is.... "What do you eat?!!!!" It's as though having a food intolerance is as bad as having a serious medical problem like celiac disease or diabetes.  A food allergy can be life threatening. However a food intolerance has the potential to cause a lot of pain and discomfort. Along with some embarrassing side effects, like diarrhea or excessive flatulence.  Sound like something out of a comedy film, that is until your the one that has it!!!   My answer is always quite, well thank you x I might have a limited diet, however in no way is it boring. To manage my IBS I eat little and often.  I'm lactose and yeast intolerant, I also avoid fatty/fried food, meat, poultry, and watch how much sugary food I eat.  I BS is different for everybody, if your worried consult your doctor. I worked out which  foods to avoid by following an exclusion diet.  The best way t
